My Good Turn Week
Brooke Countryman, Youth Spokesperson
Good Turn Week is an event that scouts celebrate April 29th to May 7th. Good turns are the nice little things a person does without being told. One thing a group did was fix a park into something the whole community could use. Good turns impact the community too. These good turns can make you feel good after doing them. There are many ways that people can help for good turn week. Your good turn can be small or anything that helps out. An example would be to hold the door open for someone. Many good turns are done every day. Some good turns change people’s lives. We encourage you to focus doing something nice for someone else on these dates, Even though good turns can be done by any one on any date.
For the past few years my group has gone to Fish Creek to pick up garbage. We enjoy doing this because we do something good for the environment and spend time with friends. It’s a good way to get fresh air and appreciate the environment around us. It makes the space cleaner and more enjoyable. One year there was a biking group and they cheered us on as they passed. It made me feel good. It makes me always want to go back. We were not asked to be recognized we just wanted to do something nice for someone else.
